ABOUT

Lisa Domitrovich, Principal

I am inspired by dedicated people with a passion.

I have over 28 years of nonprofit fundraising and strategic development experience at environmental, arts, educational, and science nonprofits—large, small, and in-between. My track record includes raising tens of millions in foundation grants over sixteen years at a large environmental organization, six years as a development generalist at a boundary-pushing fine arts school, and six years running a nonprofit literary book wholesaler.

My experience spans the fields of climate mitigation and adaptation, energy, transportation, oceans conservation, fisheries management, agriculture, habitat conservation, and western water.  I enjoy interacting with donors, colleagues, practitioners and experts including scientists, economists, lawyers, academics, and business people.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

 I have secured grants for many environmental projects including for:

  • science-based regional planning for sea level rise that integrates natural infrastructure to keep communities safe;

  • interdisciplinary analyses to demonstrate how cities can be redesigned to maximize ecological functions, improve human health, and provide access to nature

  • the creation and implementation of California’s pioneering
    climate polices;

  • rebuilding collapsed groundfish fisheries on the U.S. West Coast;

  • completing scientific studies to comprehensively measure
    and map dangerous human-caused methane pollution;

  • improving soil health and reducing fertilizer pollution in
    the Mississippi River basin by working with farmers and
    businesses across the supply chain;

  • initiatives  in Brazil, China, Indonesia, and Mexico to combat tropical
    deforestation, reduce air pollution, and protect fisheries.

In the arts, I have for raised funds for student scholarships, to restore an historic mural on campus, and to enable students to make art in NASA’s Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Program.

I also led a growing nonprofit literary book distribution business representing over 500 publishers and thousands of poetry, literary fiction, and creative nonfiction titles.

I was selected for an Arts Administration Fellowship at the National Endowment for the Arts and served as a Grants Panelist at the Endowment and at the California Arts Council.
